Cupaniopsis anacardioides
TUCKEROO Description: An evergreen small to medium, spreading tree. Foliage: Leathery, dark green, pinnate foliage. Flowers: Insignificant, greenish-white, fragrant flowers in autumn. Fruit: Small, decorative, orange fruit, that open to reveal black fleshy seeds. Birds enjoy the seeds which are exposed when the fruit ripen in early summer. Cultivation: Tolerates coastal exposure but will remain a dense shrub in these conditions. Fertiliser and plenty of water will encourage growth up to 2m a year. Plant in well drained soil, providing some protection when young.
Uses: An excellent shade, shelter or street tree in temperate to tropical climates.
